A painting that has seen the world.

This has been tucked away, but I finally got my act together to list it on eBay. "Old Station Cat" has quite a story to tell.
The subject is a very elderly and scruffy cat that investigated me while taking photos of his home. An old country railway station that is now converted into a home, but with a lot of old station features, like a ticket office and more.
I painted him in quite fine detail, in acrylics. It was my first foray into painting 'miniature' according to specifications from the Australian Society of Miniature Artists. The painting is 4"x 3" approximately - now much larger than the miniatures I usually do. It was ultimately selected to tour galleries in Europe (Germany), United Kingdom, and Australia. So it went on quite a journey, lasting well over a year. No sooner had it returned to me, than it moved with me to the U.S.A and has been shown in a few galleries - both east coast (Georgia) and west coast (Oregon). But it has mainly been tucked away. Because it is the only one of this kind, and didn't really 'go' with others I was exhibiting.
So, here it is, listed on eBay, as it's looking for a good home.

"Tuscan" oil 3x3" miniature landscape

I've had lots of things happening. Can't believe almost 2 months have gone by since I posted last.

I put the last pastel up on ebay, but didn't sell. I tried several artworks up on eBay - mostly old work, without good results, though I sold one old miniature, so was pleased about that. I wasn't getting people looking at my listings, it seemed really 'slow'.

I did a tiny oil of a Tuscan inspired scene, and didn't get any results from that - not that I really expected to. I am just about to revamp my selling art page on my site, and was going to add it, then thought about documenting it here. It's 3x3" on a gallery wrap canvas. I think I did this in oils.

It's kinda cute! Not sure what I'll do with it.
It was fun to do, anyway.

Rose - square - SFA 6"x6" "Sunkist"

Well, this was just a small one I did about a week ago. "SUNKIST"
6x6" - took me about 6 hours.
That's about an hour an inch!
PHEW!
Acrylics on canvas. Sides painted - continued on sides.

"Mauve Madness" 8x10" Acrylic on canvas.

I've had a couple of galleries express interest in doing an exhibition of my work, so need a 'series', preferably in oils. I love working with oils they are so 'buttery' - you basically work by 'pushing' the paint around the canvas, but it's about a year since I've done an oil, and, even then, only 2 on canvas.

So I diligently sorted through my rose reference photos, as I have so many of them, and roses seem eternal re being a popular subject to purchase. I have SO many rose photos (over 500!) that it took me a long time to look through. It was then 10pm by the time I finished. So, needed to decide - do I start my painting, or not.

Not to start would have defeated my purpose of aiming to start a painting THAT DAY, so I went ahead.

Around 1am the kitten stepped on the plastic drawers where I store my paints and they went all over the floor.

While picking them up I discovered the reason my paints weren't acting the way I thought, as well as drying ultra quick (I thought it was the climate here!) ... I'd been using acrylics!
I really don't like using acrylics! They are my least favourite medium. They take a lot more work than oils. The bonus is that I have a painting that is instantly dry, so can tote it around with me to show everyone, plus I think that some of the effects with the roses in this particular painting would not have been able to be achieved with oils. - "Mauve Madness" - See above.

I plan to start another rose painting today, and as they are white roses, I'm planning on using acrylics. Quite a change for me.
