I'm on display in the window!

I certainly got a surprise when driving downtown Medford and went by the SOHS (see previous post). There was my painting in the window. I about had an accident.

3 artworks juried into SOHS art exhibit and sale Dec, 2010

I got a phone call today - all 3 of my entries in the Southern Oregon Historical Society's 1st Annual exhibit and sale were accepted.
The exhibition opens tomorrow (Dec 1st), and is open until the 31st.

There is a special reception on the night of the 17th - which coincides with the monthly art walk. If you're in the area, why not plan to attend?

The SOHS site is: http://www.sohs.org/

I'm very pleased about having my work juried in, as I love preserving things of times past.

A prize winner! Cider Painters of America

I found out today that one of the two paintings I sent to Pennsylvania for the Cider Painters of America Annual Exhibition won a 'Judge's award'. They have 5 judges, and each one selects one painting that caught their eye, their favorite. A HUGE honor. So many paintings and a judge chose MINE!
It's 'Buffalo Hunter' - 3.25 x 1.35", in watercolor.
The exhibition is opening this weekend at VGOGH Gallery, 281 Wyoming Ave., Kingston, PA 18704. It will be open until the 31st December.
Also at the show is another work of mine - "Ridin' the Rails". This work won an 'Honorable Mention' at the El Dorado Miniature art exhibition in Colorado earlier this year. All SO exciting to me!

Finished Oil Painting ...

Just finished tonight, this oil painting.
Found out its 14x8.5" - don't know why I thought it was 11x9"!
I haven't got a title for it yet.
Someone suggested a song - music/melody.
To me it's like 'peeking through' foliage, but it just doesn't suit it.
It's a house in Georgia. Can't remember where, exactly.

It is FOR SALE:

What's currently on my easel: WIP - 9x11" oil of a house

I primed the canvas orange. Oil. 11x9" gallery-wrap canvas.

This is a house in Georgia. It's not meant as an exact architectural image. Just working on something 'pretty' (I hope).

Still have a way to go yet. Have a few things to correct/refine.

Juried into WSO (Watercolor Society of Oregon) 45th Fall Exhibition.

My painting of "Wash House Whores (Women)" was one of 80 paintings out of 284 selected to be in the fall show. The painting is currently on its way to Salem for the show.

See previous post: http://jilliancrider.blogspot.com/2009/09/finished-artwork-watercolor-wash-house.html

Also, rather exciting was catching up with the 2 lovely ladies featured in my painting, which I did this past weekend. They were delighted with the painting, though they only saw it postcard size.

I'd love to be closer to Salem so I can attend the exhibition. 20 of the 80 paintings will be chose for awards/to be in a traveling exhibition that will last approximately 6 months - traveling around Oregon.

Fabulous to get juried in. This is my first entry for WSO. I've only been a member the past year.

Vintage images on shapes - paper grab bag - for crafters.

I've been busy making these the last few days. I love doing them. They are so much fun!

http://www.etsy.com/shop/artistjilliancrider

I've also sold about half of them.
I use vintage images, vintage book pages, old ledgers - some even have handwriting on them, over 100 years old.

I used to sell them to other crafters at a mall/coop I was part of.
I loved seeing the things they made with them!

Fawn on ledger paper from the 1800s.

Sold the other two works I did on old ledger paper. This one is slightly different.

A couple of weekends ago spied two fawns, and managed to capture an image of them. Just SO cute. I couldn't resist doing this in ink like I did with the ducklings and the rabbit.

http://www.etsy.com/listing/53871628/original-bambi-deer-fawn-artwork-sketch

Don't know why I like adding the printed element, but somehow, it's modern mixed with old, and leads you to interpret the image as something more. I also like adding color, without adding it to the inkwork.

An award to add to my bio!

First miniature show I've entered in the USA, and it turns out I've won a merit award for watercolor.
"Ridin' the Rails" (on previous blog post) was sent to El Dorado 29th Miniature Art Show in Colorado Springs, CO - and I won a merit award it seems. The show is not finished yet. I'm thrilled.

Today's art: Miniature watercolor: Rodeo

Just did this one today:
1.35 x 3.25"
"Ridin' the Rails"
So it's about 1/2 the size of an ACEO.
Transparent watercolor. As usual, the scan does not do it justice.

Just released: My artwork on Keds' shoes.

I just designed some Keds' ladies slip-on shoes on Zazzle and had them approved for general selling.
I really like this artwork with ducklings, thinking it's 'cute'. I doesn't fit the shape, but at the same time, I think that doesn't hurt the design one little bit.
So I'm rather pleased with it.

ACEO - Victorian house in impressionist style (acrylic painting)

My latest ACEO. I'm back doing houses again.

This time this is an acrylic painting of a early 1900s house in Atlanta done in impressionist style. It's an ACEO, which is tiny artwork, always 2.5 x 3.5".
It didn't scan well due to the texture of the canva-paper it's painted on, so this is a photo ... and we all know that the original painting is MUCH better than the photo shows!

It's listed on eBay:
